Making Exquisite Boxes—William Taylor

Bill will detail the long history of boxes,there uses and their history. He has a visual display of box styles from various artisans including himself. There will be a detailed portion devoted to box construction with emphasis on safety in the production of small parts. He will close with the pitfalls you can encounter. Bill can accommodate 7 people.

Finishing and Restoring Furniture—Harvey Best

Harvey will cover the various finishes we use,their applications,and the differences between them. he will cover advantages and disadvantages of each. The discussion will also focus on restoration of pieces,how to identify older finishes and how to restore them back to original glory. Hollow Forms—Chris Schmidt

Chris has graciously consented to continue his turning series. He will focus on hollow forms. Don't be frighten into thinking this is turning a form through a quarter sized hole. although that is a hollow form any form with a rolled over edge is a hollow form. Chris will lead you through the turning of them along with the tools used to create them. There is an opportunity for hands on. Chris can accommodate 8 and has several lathes to use.

Bent Laminations—Owain Harris

Owain will cover the basics of bent laminating curved parts for furniture and architectural work. Through the course of the morning he will discuss the proper selection of materials from engineering plywood to resawing solid wood,the construction and fabrication of various bending forms and molds,the best adhesive to use,the use of clamps,cauls and straps and as one method of clamping a vacuum bag system for creating the bend. Finally he will discuss strategies for clean up and cuttig the bent pieces.
