Turning Outside the Box
This demonstration introduces the bandsaw as a complimentary tool to the lathe. Beth will go through the process of making a bandsaw box that will be mounted and turned on the lathe. This is a good demo for turners of all skill levels who want to juice up there creativity, and learn new methods of mounting irregular shaped pieces on the lathe.
Beth Ireland is a 1979 graduate of State University College at Buffalo, where she received a Bachelors degree in Art Education. She has run Beth Ireland Wood Working since 1982. The company specializes in architectural woodturning, furniture and cabinetry. Beth has lectured, taught and demonstrated all over the country , including a two year position as Director of the Wood Program at Worcester Center for Crafts. Her artistic wood turnings have been seen in galleries throughout the United States as well as publications such as Bead and Button, and Design Book 7 by Taunton Press. She will be teaching courses at Arrowmount, Anderson Ranch, The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship and other well known schools in 2006. Beth's current video, Turning Outside The Box, came out in August of 2005.
