Duplicating Spindle Turnings by Hand or "How do I get 2 of these darn things to match?"
Jim Kephart will show how to duplicate spindle turnings by hand. The demo will show the processes required including the use of storyboards, calipers, pommel cuts. While duplicating several types of turnings, Jim will show how to cut basis shapes with emphasis on how to obtain control.
Jim Kephart is a production wood turner. He started turning in 1976 primarily as a hobby. In the early 1990's Jim became more serious about turning for artistic and furniture items. His extensive demonstration resume includes the AAW National Symposium and every one of the NE Turning Symposia. Since 2000, he has taught "Beginning Woodturning" at Harris Enterprise in Manchester, CT. Jim's current focus is on architectural turnings and furniture part restoration / reproduction. Jim does anything from miniature turnings to 9 foot 6 inch columns.
