I work for a school where we have to take down a beloved willow tree, due to disease, and we are thinking it would be really nice to use the wood to make a keepsake of some sort to give to the 40 members of what we call our "Willow Tree Society" (a donor group). I have read that willow is not a great wood for crafts but I'm still wondering if we could come up with a suitable project, something simple enough to make 40 of. A shallow key bowl, perhaps, or one of those very simple refracting kaleidoscopes (with no moving pieces, just a prism on one end of a turned wood tube)?
