This Saturday, March 25th 9AM-12PM
Granite State Woodturners at Manchester Makerspace
There will be a show and tell - bring something and show us what you are working, your latest new tool or anything else related to turning (including your questions!) This is your opportunity to share.
Claude Dupuis will be demonstrating segmented turnings.
I'm sure there will be a lively discussion in addition to Claude's demo. We would love to hear from the other segmenters out there!
Thursday, March 30th 7PM-9PM, (6PM social hour)
Turn a Top with the Granite State Woodturners at Manchester Makerspace
The focus of this meeting will be hands on turning of tops.
Tops come in many shapes and varieties. It's easy to make a simple top and there is no end to the variations and embellishments that you can add. If you are a top turner, share your techniques and bring examples. If you have never turned a top, join us and plan on leaving with your first!
The woodshop at Manchester Makerspace is really shaping up. We have 4 lathes ready to us at any time along with tools, sharpening machines, and lathe accessories. Thanks to everyone in the guild for supporting this great space!
We are also in the process of receiving a fantastic donation of a RobLand combination machine. I'm really looking forward to building out the shop for flat work centered on this serious professional woodworking machine.
GSWT has been holding regular weeknight meetings on alternate Tuesdays at the shop. These meetings have been well attended and have included great demonstrations and hands-on turning for the attendees.
Topics have included:
- Vinyl masking for embellishing turnings
- Sphere turning
- Roundtable turning talk
- Turning green bowls
We've seen lots of new faces. If you get the chance, please join us!
Hope to see you soon,
