Hollow Turning

“Free Wood” involves work, technique, and patience. Rick will demonstrate how he processes wood from log to bowl. From preserving the log to chain sawing the billet to band sawing a basic round to first turning a green bowl blank, to second turning a dried bowl blank into a finished bowl. He will include methods that work, as well as some methods to avoid. Rick’s turning will employ push cutting with a 40/40 bowl gouge and a bottom gouge. This demonstration is primarily aimed at new turners seeking ways to acquire and process affordable wood into useful objects. More experienced turners are invited but requested to save heckling until the end where their considerable wisdom will be welcomed.
